INDUSTRY STANDARD ULTRASONIC COUPLANTS

The Industry Standard Series of water-based couplants features high surface wetting capabilities to optimize transmission on dirty or oily surfaces. Ferrous corrosion inhibition factors for each are the highest in their performance class. The Industry Standard Series meets nuclear specifications for Halogens, Sulfur and low melting point metals and many aircraft and military specifications. The following products have established the standard by which other UT couplants are judged.

ENVIRONMENTALLY BENIGN ULTRASONIC COUPLANTS

Sonotech developed environmentally benign couplants to minimize NDT's impact on the environment. These couplants contain biodegradable materials safe for leave-on applications and an environmentally benign ferrous corrosion inhibition system for steel. Sonotech's environmentally benign couplants have low skin irritation potential, contain no dye or fragrance and will not stain clothing. All couplants in this category meet nuclear power specifications for Halogens, Sulfur and low melting point metals.

Soundsafe®	SonoGlide®	Soundclear®	UTX Powder	UTX-FE Powder

Sonotech offers a broad range of extended and extreme temperature ultrasonic couplants ranging from -60º to 1200º F. Some of the products in this category have proven themselves for over 25 years. Sonotech couplants do NOT contain any of the perfluorocarbons found in many "high temperature" greases, thus "polymer fume fever" is not a hazard.

UT-X POWDER and UT-X/FE POWDER are cost effective concentrates that are mixed with water at the inspection site. The compact and lightweight packets are easy to transport to distant sites or store for unanticipated shortages as emergency couplant. UT-X POWDER and UT-X/FE POWDER are available in pre-measured 1-gallon and 5-gallon packets. UT-X POWDER can be custom mixed to the viscosity required by the test procedure. UT-X POWDER incorporates a mild corrosion inhibitor, a preservative, a viscosity building polymer and ease of mixing in a pre-measured packet.

Sonotech offers a line of UT water additives formulated to enhance the properties of water as an ultrasonic coupling medium. These products are designed to make water coupled UT testing techniques (such as immersion tanks, bubblers, and squirters) faster, easier, and more reliable.

NPRRC-20 is used to encapsulate radioactive particles and reduce personnel exposure to airborne radioactive particulate during nuclear reactor cavity maintenance.
