SOUNDSAFE
HV® is
recommended for applications where couplant may not be removed by the inspector
and may later come into contact with animals, humans and waterways. It offers
the highest performance of the environmentally benign family of couplants.
SOUNDSAFE
HV, a gel couplant, has a high humectant level, including
glycerine, to slow drying and provide transducer lubrication. SOUNDSAFE HV contains an environmentally
benign corrosion inhibition system for steel; however, when ferrous corrosion is
of primary concern, ULTRAGEL
II® provides superior corrosion inhibition. SOUNDSAFE HV holds on overhead surfaces and
fills depressions in rough surfaces, facilitating its use in flaw detection,
thickness gaging, and acoustic emission testing.
SOUNDSAFE
HV
meets the Halogens and Sulfur requirements specified in NAVSHIPS MIL-STD-767.

- Highest
viscosity, ideal for overhead and vertical applications
- Increased
acoustic impedance for reduced surface noise
- Slow
drying with excellent transducer lubrication
- Environmentally benign formula -- no
VOCs
- Low skin irritation potential
- No harsh surfactants, dyes or
fragrances
- Gel viscosity holds on a majority of
overhead and vertical surfaces
- Corrosion inhibiting system for
ferrous based materials
- Meets nuclear specifications for
halogens, sulfur, and low melting point metals
- Contains glycerine to extend drying
time
- Water-based and water-soluble
- Environmentally benign formula
Soundsafe
has been tested and approved to:
- Hot
corrosion testing on High Temperature Alloys AMS 5544 (Waspalloy), 5536
(Hastelloy X), 6359 (Ferrous based alloys), 4037 (Aluminum), 5608 (Haynes 188),
5508 (Greek Ascoloy) and 4375 (Magnesium), and has been tested for composite
shear modulus, aircraft aluminum corrosion and composite adhesion.
- Pratt
and Whitney PWA 36700/36604, MCL E-205 Type II, Stress Corrosion Cracking
testing on Titanium Alloys or ASTM
