LithoClear is an acoustic transmission gel for dry contact ESWL (Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy) with minimized air bubbles and optimized acoustic properties. ESWL requires eliminating all air bubbles of any size in the acoustic interface. LithoClear is Sonotech's response to this requirement.
LithoClear presents a clear pathway for shock wave acoustics in ESWL with no reflection or scattering due to micro or macro air bubbles. Bubbles in acoustic transmission gel can cause scattering or reflection of the shock wave, resulting in less acoustic energy at the focal point with which to fragment the kidney stone.
LithoClear matches the sound velocity of skin to within 0.5%, minimizing refraction at skin boundary. This allows the system to maintain a tight focal zone as intended, which can minimize treatment time.
